Shea Stadium hosts holiday show with Yucky Duster, Bueno, Fits, and Emmerson & Her Clammy Hands 12.21

When the longstanding Brooklyn DIY landmark Shea Stadium was forced to close its doors this past spring things looked grim. But, at the end of what’s been a long and difficult year for so many more reasons, Shea has thankfully managed to keep going in the interim by hosting events at other venues while it hunts for a new space to inhabit. Closing out the year, Shea brings a lineup of local favorites to Brooklyn Bazaar on December 21st: Yucky Duster’s scrappy punk, Bueno’s crispy alt-rock, Fits’ unhinged DIY energy, and Emmerson and Her Clammy Hands' intimate bedroom songs. Though Shea is still deep in the process of finding a new home, let’s hope this is the only year without a stadium. – Cameron Carr

Fits Debut Album at Alphaville 11.17

Fits stay true to their name with their especially short songs, each one bursting into the limelight with compelling and near-addicting guitar riffs. It’d be too easy for a band to get lost in the music, but Fits know just when to end a song early enough to cause a craving for more. Fits’ penchant for brevity (as well as quirky humor) keeps the themes of their upcoming LP “All Belief is Paradise,” themes of queer identity in the shadow of grief and disillusioned meditations on childhood, from being too overwhelming. Instead, the music is refreshingly sincere. Celebrate the LP’s release with Fits at Alphaville on 11.17.  --Amanda Ogea

gobbinjr plays Brooklyn Bazaar 05.31 with Told Slant, Fits and Crosslegged

gobbinjr, the moniker of Brooklyn's Emma Witner, is playing alongside Told Slant, Fits and Crosslegged at a We Make Noise benefit at Brooklyn Bazaar on May 31st. Fans of Porches and Frankie Cosmos will enjoy Witner's unique retro instrumentation. Drum machines and swelling keys compliment disarming lyrics such as: "I'm a vaccum-sealed freezer dinner rotting in the box," and "No one wants to love someone who's never been loved before." Check out the video for "vom nite" below. - Ethan Ames
