Open Mike Eagle "Microfiche"

Chicago Native Open Mike Eagle released a William Child directed claymation video this week for his single “Microfiche”. The track is taken from his latest EP, “What Happens When I Try To Relax”, and the video finds Eagle joining forces with Colin Kaepernick, fighting a vampire and embarking on a wild police chase that ends in a standoff.

New The Bul Bey EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

A new self-titled EP from The Bul Bey recently arrived via Illvibe Media. Over the span of five tracks, the emcee covers a lot of ground. There’s an authoritative air on display - a conversational tone that exudes confidence, striking with hard-hitting, personal topics. A through line of perseverance and persistence reigns, as if any obstacle that stands in the way is just another opportunity to shine. As the EP closes with “Deep Down In My Heart,” the artist addresses his demons and coming out on the other side, exhibiting a reaffirmed conviction to succeed/move forward, punctuated by a blistering guitar solo from Anthony DeCarlo of Ill Doots.

Weekend Warrior, October 26 - 28

Restoring the power to those affected by mass incarceration, flipping the script on systematic racism and violence, Reclaim Philadelphia’s Mass Liberation Campaign aims to promote change focused on unjust policing and in-prisoning practices in Philadelphia, via organization and education developing leaders. Tonight, Everybody Hits hosts a benefit for the MLC - one which showcases artists whose music coincides and reinforces those messages. Sammus articulates a wide spectrum of pertinent issues addressing things from a personal perspective, infusing nerdcore with an unyielding tenacity that will not be denied. Pinkwash cultivates a brutal, melodic punk, in a smash-and-sear framework - one etched in earnest vocal delivery and the release of emotion in cathartic waves of heavy, while Soul Glo unleashes internalized thoughts over the top of potent, instrumental blitzes. And on New Pedal, the recent release from Likes, an experimental, warped, sonic world is on full display. Please come out & show your support for much-needed change! – Michael Colavita

New Track: "Boil & Pop" (Feat. Queen Jo) - Matthew Law

Matthew Law, who was formerly known around town as DJ PHSH, now has a new imprint, Friends & Fam. Its first single, "Boil & Pop," featuring Queen Jo, moves with a heart-pumping beat that warps into a key-laced, liquified groove. The Philly femcee takes command of the track, in an assertive-confident manner, demonstrating that she's not one to be trifled with. You can find Matthew Law hosting Thursdays 4 Love tonight at Saint Lazarus Bar, with special guest DJ G33K.
