Burlington's Abbie Morin plays at Nectar's on Saturday (2/20)

A little under a month ago, Burlington-based, self-described “fox folk” artist Abbie Morin shared a slowly involving live version of “Better Half” (streaming below), the wistful opener on her 2015 debut album ‘Shadowproof.’ Over ambling guitars and soaring violins, Morin vividly depicts a distance-bruised relationship while showing pure appreciation for our lovers, wherever they may have gone. Reminiscent of both Angel Olsen and perhaps Lucinda Williams, Morin quietly yet strongly shines with her moving country-folk. Abbie Morin plays at Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont on Saturday (2/20). – Zach Weg

Portland Best of 2015 Readers' Poll Results Are In!

A few days ago marked the end of the Deli Portland's Best of 2015 Readers' Poll, spotlighting our varied amount of local talent. It's after a rigorous effort that we can now announce the Top 5 emerging Portland acts as picked by you, the readers. Enjoy, and stay tuned for the upcoming composite chart, which will include the votes from our jury!

1. LiquidLight

Alternative rock outfit LiquidLight catapulted to the top of the charts with not only their easily lovable songs, but also with their fervent ability to get themselves heard! Tinges of everything from psych rock to early 2000's pop punk can be found their songs. Some only in small elements, but enough to make LiquidLight's sound specific to them. Say hello to Portland's best band of 2015.

------

2. Foxy Lemon

Sensually bluesy and devotedly oozing classical rock qualities, Foxy Lemon have crooned their way into the hearts of many of us, playing electrifying shows to a diverse crowds and immediately turning them into fans. There's a certain allure to Foxy Lemon that other can't be ignored, an obvious one that got them up to our #2 slot.

------

3. Coco Columbia

She's animated and delightfully pleasant, jamming out through her huge hair and eclectic style, making music that's just as colossally interesting. It's equal parts dreamy, electronic, indie and jazzy, the perfect blend for well rounded pop.

------

4. The Cabin Project

The Cabin Project take a symphonic approach to indie rock, with their songs seeming to sweep over you like a leaves in a light wind. Harmonies and string sections flirt playfully, with weighty choruses and orchestral effects that elevate their songs to a whole other level.

------

5. Space Shark

Space Shark is an interesting band of sorts, taking the best of heady space rock and jam band minutia to manifest a low key heaviness. Their standout track, "Now Is We" off their latest release Ghosts, has been receiving much deserved praise for its perfect representation of Space Shark's forte.

------

Let's also give a shout out to Dirty Revival, Consumer, Rod, The Ghost Ease and White Bear Polar Tundra for rounding out the rest of our Top 10. A big thanks also goes out to all the bands that participated, promoted and worked their damn hardest to get their music heard. Also, a thank you to everyone that voted. We do this for all you guys. New England Readers/Fans' Poll Results! 1. Danny Henry, 2. Cactus Attack, 3. Chaser Eight

The Deli New England Readers' Poll ended last week, and, after a few days churning the numbers and checking the votes, we can finally announce the winner and runners up!

1. Congrats to quirky Connecticut singer songwriter and pianist Danny Henry (pictured), who, nominated by one of our jurors (list coming soon), went to extreme(ly cold) lengths in promoting our poll, and broke the epic barrier of 1k votes to head the pack of nominated artists: he's The Deli New England's Readers Artist of 2015! Check out his single "Meliss" below, that manages to blend New Order and the sound of Motown.

---

2. In second place, the roots music collective Cactus Attack surrounding Ryan "Stonewall" Jackson fought Danny tooth and nail, getting very close to the 1k vote threshold. These guys also shot a (hilariously earnest) video promoting our poll, check it out - we should totally do a contest of the videos next time! Cactus Attack released their charming and full of character self-title debut album in 2011 (you can listen to it here) but their Facebook profile shows them busy working on a follow up.

---

3. In third place (with 548 votes) we have a female fronted alt rock group that, with their new single "Step Into The Light" (streaming) seems to be developing shoegazer overtones: Chaser Eight. Also hailing from Connecticut, this is a group whose music has been featured on TV and various radio station. Expect a new album release in the next few weeks.

---

4. A few points below, at 540, stands our fourth place bands, Eldridge Rodriguez, a Boston quartet that plays rather epiuc rock with both electric and electronic elements. You can listen to theirr latest LP "The Castrati Menace" (released in October 2015) here.

--

Also, don't forget to check out the top ten artists below, they all promoted this poll hard and deserve your attention for doing so!

5. The Hempsteadys
6. Mission Zero
7. Carissa Johnson
8. Able Days
9. Ceschi
10. Dr. Martino
