The Deli's SXSW Issue 2014 is online!

Read it digitally here.

P.S. 10k free copies of this issue hit the street of Austin during SXSW Music week!

Modern Vices

Modern Vices is lead by the energetic and compelling voice of Alex Rebek. Their self-titled debut album will be released by Autumn Tone (home to like-minded Twin Peaks and The Orwells) on October 7th. They recently released their first single "Cheap Style". Their sound strikes a charming balance between garage pop, late ’50s croon, The Smiths, and The Drum. High praise, sure, but Modern Vices is already proving they can deliver.

You can catch Modern Vices at Subt on August 3rd with Zoo Brother, Twin Cabins, and Sister Savage and at The Burlington on August 15th with Heavy Times and Dead Gaze.

Twin Peaks

Back in May we shared the details of the upcoming Twin Peaks album, Wild Onion (Grand Jury, Aug 5th). This week Pitchfork will be streaming the entire album, and below is the video for the lead single "Flavor".

Lincoln Hall announced today that the record release show will be on October 30th with NE-HI and Flesh Panthers.

*Update: You can also catch Twin Peaks at Reckless Records on August 5th for an in-store performance.*

Running "Frizzled"

Last week Chicago-based Drag City released the latest 7" from the noise-pop band Running. The 7" features three tracks "Frizzled", "I've Got It", and the track below "Totally Fired".

You can catch Running with Parquet Courts at Empty Bottle on August 1st.

Villa Coola

Villa Coola is the new project of Gehring Miller (The Welcome). With The Welcome recently announcing that are "taking a break for the foreseeable future" it seems Miller needs a new outlet for his talent. This is a shift from the sound of The Welcome into a more of an Alt-Folk, lo-fi sound. Miller released his first batch of recording via soundcloud last week. You can stream/download the entire EP here.

You can catch Villa Coola at Beat Kitchen on Aug. 10th with Mike Petruccelli, Jason Swearingen, Hi Ho, and Gar Clemens.

Bailiff "Golden Hour"

Bailiff has released the first single, "Golden Hour", from their forthcoming EP, Remise EP II.

You can catch Bailiff at Wicker Park Fest on July 27th.

|

New Oceans

The punk trio New Oceans released their scorching new EP, What's The Use, last month. The EP is now available for free download on the band's bandcamp.

|

Blue Dream

Blue Dream released their self-titled EP earlier this month. The band is a pure '70's psych rock throwback and the sound on the EP is tinged with a heavy and hazy dose of blues.
